Ken Burns talks about his new project “Jackie Robinson”

Documentarian Ken Burns returned to Downtown on Monday afternoon to discuss the upcoming debut of “Jackie Robinson” on April 11th on PBS. Burns talked about the legacy of Robinson and the impact he had on both baseball and the cultural landscape, calling Robinson “the most important person in the history of baseball”. The filmmaker recalled the role of Maine’s Clyde Sukeforth in the Robinson story and also discussed Louis Sockalexis and whether his importance to the game has been given due recognition. He also cited the current election cycle as proof that we are a long way from living in a “post-racial” America.
