Lisa Q. Wolfinger, the executive producer and co-creator of the new PBS series “Mercy Street”, came on Downtown to talk about the debut of the new series. Wolfinger discussed what led her to this story, how the women volunteers were the unsung heroes of the Civil War, and the inspiration provided by the television series “M*A*S*H*”. The South Portland based Wolfinger also shared her excitement at the decision to air the series in the coveted Sunday at 10:00 p.m. slot, following the successful “Downton Abbey”.
